Your energetic bubble. What it is and how to use it.

A few years ago, I was listening to a Pinch of Magic podcast (thanks, Rebecca Anuwen!) episode where she talked about visualizing your energetic space as a bubble. The literal bubble idea didn’t really work for me, but the concept of something bubble-like representing our energetic space did and I’ve used it daily since.

My ‘bubble’ is actually a sphere of flowing water, cycling in a clockwise direction, constantly cleansing my energetic space. Although it doesn’t look like a normal bubble, it functions as an energetic barrier to keep my energy in and unwanted energy out. That’s the point of the bubble, no matter what yours looks like.

How to visualize your bubble

Get somewhere comfortable and quiet. Take a few deep breaths and relax. Close your eyes. Picture yourself, either as you are in that moment, or against a black backdrop. Maybe you’re floating in space or in the clouds. It doesn’t really matter. All that matters is you. Notice the bubble around you. It’s large enough for you to fit inside comfortably. If you raised your hand and stretched it high above your head or stretched both arms out as far as you could reach, your fingertips would almost graze the inside of it.

Pay attention to your bubble. What does it look like? Is it purple, gold, or blue? If not, what color is it? Does it sparkle? Is there a shine to your bubble? Maybe, as you look closer, you realize it isn’t really a normal looking bubble at all. Maybe it’s a thin layer of flowing water in the shape of a sphere. Constantly streaming in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Are there little waves in it? Does the water sparkle with sunbeams caught in its currents? Or, maybe it’s not air or water. Maybe your bubble is actually a ring of fire. Protective and burning away everything coming your way that doesn’t serve your highest good. There is no right or wrong way to visualize your bubble. After all, it’s your bubble and reflects how you feel safe and protected in your own space. Regardless of what your bubble is made out of and looks like, notice how it protects you completely, beneath your feet, above your head, behind you even. It’s your energetic barrier between you and everything else.

A final note on visualizing your bubble: no matter what yours looks like, it’s permeable. It breathes. It lets in energy that is good for you and meant for your highest good, and it exhales any energy that is not.

How to use your bubble

At first, I recommend visualizing your bubble daily. Make it a routine. Do it first thing in the morning before your day kicks off. You can also take a breath and spend thirty seconds or so visualizing your bubble any time you feel overwhelmed or stressed. Just close your eyes, take a breath, and there it is.

Not only do we want our bubble to keep out energy that we don’t want or need, we also want it to let in the good stuff. For this reason, when you’re visualizing your bubble it’s helpful to think or say something like, “I release all negative energy. I’m open to receiving energy meant for my highest good.” You can visualize this energy coming and going from your bubble. What does it look like? What color is it?

If you feel like you need a to add a little extra oomph to your bubble, you can supercharge it. When I feel like mine could use a little strengthening, I’ll add my own energy to it by visualizing my energy flowing from my center into the membrane of my bubble, fortifying it. Maybe I’ll razzle dazzle it too while I’m at it and stud it with some diamonds. Maybe I’ll add some love to it (pink energy). And other times, I’ll just ask my spirit team to make it stronger or add an extra dose of whimsy to it. They never disappoint. The point here is, you can never go wrong with adding things to your bubble that feel right to you. The stranger the idea, the more you should probably add it to your bubble.

As with any habit or skill in life, the more you visualize your bubble, the stronger it becomes. Eventually, you go through life with the sense of knowing that it’s always there, always doing its job. If it needs anything, you’ll know it and that’s when you check into that feeling and ‘fortify’ your bubble. Sometimes it might feel stale and need cleansing (this is why it’s important that you visualize your bubble as something porous and breathable) - in that case you can use your own energy to cleanse it, similar to how you would use your energy to strengthen it. Or, if all else fails, you can ask your spirit team for help maintaining your bubble’s ‘energetic hygiene’ (if you’re not sure how to talk to your spirit team, you just say, “Hey, spirit team, it’s me. I need help with…”).

A final note on bubbles: Your bubble isn’t the only barrier protecting your energetic space. It’s just the one closest to you. Imagine my surprise when I was meditating one day and saw a ring of fire outside of my water sphere, along with a layer that I knew to be a void (Spirit described it as a vacuum). I was not responsible for adding these – that was my spirit team taking care of business. If you want them to show you how they do that for you, all you have to do is ask. They always deliver.

Enjoy spending time with your bubble,

Katrina
